Covenant House, Canadas largest shelter for homeless youth, has gone green. An innovative new roof top garden project, designed to provide unique and inspiring opportunities, completed in June, 2008 and officially opened September 10, 2008. Using Bioroof's Eco System design and installed by Landsource Organix Green Roof Division, the 7000 square foot garden is truly an outdoor oasis. Some 5000 perennials, raised vegetable planters, a wetland area, a fish pond with a fountain, and overhead trellis are just some of the features of this outdoor classroom. Not only does it provide educational and vocational opportunities through hands-on experiences, but a therapeutic and tranquil haven for the shelter's youth. You are invited to see it for yourself.
