Brookside
(by Teeple Architects), Toronto, ON, Canada
Located on the east end of the city of Toronto, Brookside Public School is a testament to what can be done with a public building and a little imagination. One of the few schools to implement green roof technology, Brookside promises to be an important measuring stick by which other schools can be measured. The green roof implemented here adheres to the guidelines established by the city of Toronto's Green Roof Pilot Program.

Soldier's Memorial
Orillia, ON, Canada
As a public hospital firmly entrenched in the community for decades, the Soldier's Memorial Hospital renovation is a great example of the progression of "green" building ideas. What was once considered an "eye sore", the mechanical units on this roof top have been aesthetically improved by the green roof component, composed of different coloured aggregates and flowering perennials, which has transformed the entrance into an inviting green space.
